What is Prostate Massage ?

What is Prostate? Prostate is a small, squishy gland about the size of a walnut that sits under the bladder and in front of the rectum. The urethra, the narrow tube that runs the length of the penis and that carries both urine and semen out of the body, runs directly through the prostate; the rectum, or the lower end of the bowel, sits just behind the prostate and the bladder.

Sitting just above the prostate are the seminal vesicles, two little glands that secrete about 60% of the substances that makes up semen; running alongside and attached to the sides of the prostate are the nerves that control erectile function.

What is Prostate massage?

Prostate massage and prostate milking are terms used to describe the massage or stimulation of the prostate gland in males, either for medical or sexual purposes. The two terms are interchangeable, although "massage" is more frequently used when the purpose is relief of symptoms of chronic prostatitis, and "milking" when the purpose is the reduction of sexual activity or drive through removal of prostatic fluid.

The prostate is a part of male sexual response, and a key contributor to male orgasm. Located adjacent to the rectum, it can be stimulated manually. Seminal fluids collected in the prostate are released during orgasm.

Prostate massage thus refers to any action which stimulates the gland. Prostate milking more usually refers to the specific practice of relieving the buildup of seminal fluids within the prostate, and discharging them by means of massage without orgasm or ejaculation.

  How it done?

Prostate massage, also known as prostate milking, is sometimes carried out as a medical procedure for the treatment of chronic prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), although it is highly inadvisable for patients with acute prostatitis, for whom the infection can spread elsewhere in the body if massage is performed.

Done internally either by finger(s), prostate massager or other medical instrument, prostate massage may result in orgasm without any genital stimulation. It can also be indirectly massaged externally through the perineum, although this may not be effective in the removal of fluid.

No more pressure should be used than for rubbing an eyeball. The procedure is initially undertaken gently using the index finger and a latex glove by massaging the lobes on either side of the prostate, taking care not to rub vigorously on the nerves in the middle.

If the prostate is full and stimulated sexually in some cases it may consciously and voluntarily be contracted, thereby emptying itself in the same way as during ejaculation but with none of the surrounding organs stimulated, without actually squeezing it digitally.

Electroejaculation is a procedure in which nerves are stimulated via an electric probe, which is inserted into the rectum adjacent to the prostate. It is most commonly encountered in animal husbandry for the purpose of collecting samples for testing or breeding. Prostate milking is also encountered as part of sexual activities, particularly involving the use of sexual denial. It only applies to a male, as the female anatomy does not include a prostate.

Medical info you have to know

There are some health risks associated with prostate massage if performed incorrectly. Gentle massage may "help to drain painfully sequestered secretions in a chronically [but not acutely] inflamed prostate gland or seminal vesicles", and the massage around the prostate may benefit the muscles there. However a study in 2006 found no additional benefit for adding prostate massage to antibiotics alone in treating prostatitis.[1] Vigorous massage, or massage to an acute prostatitis case, in some cases may be dangerous, possibly leading to local cellulitis (Fournier's gangrene),[2] septicaemia (blood poisoning), transfer of prostate cancer to other parts of the body, or hemorrhoidal flare-up in some individuals.

Whilst a prostate massage can benefit some men, it is important to be aware that there are risks involved with massaging a prostate that is suffering from an ailment or using too much force. Minimum pressure must be used, and using unreasonable vigor may result in damage to the very sensitive soft tissues and nerves of which it is made.

It is gentler to perform manually than with most medical implements because the finger is softer and allows more control.

Prostate Massage - An Alternative Treatment To An Uncomfortable Prostate Problem

Chronic Prostatitis is a bacterial infection which invades the prostate gland. It is an infection which tends to regularly return and is believed to be cause by recurrent urinary tract infections. This form of Prostatitis tends to be less intense than other forms. One medical procedure which is used as a treatment for Chronic Prostatits is Prostate Massage.

What exactly is Prostate Massage? In the case of a patient with Chronic Prostatitis, Prostate Massage is used for medical reasons. The purpose of Prostate Massage is to stimulate the males prostate gland and relieve symptoms of Chronic Prostatitis.

Prostate Massage is not meant to be vigorous. It is intended to be a gentle massage of the prostate gland, again to help relieve symptoms of Chronic Prostatitis. Prostate Massage is performed using an instrument, a prostate massager. Prostate Massage is done anally and requires a gentle approach. Prostate Massage should be performed by a medical professional who understand the procedure since if performed incorrectly, Prostate Massage could cause damage.

Like with most medical procedures, there are risks involved with Prostate Massage if performed incorrectly. Prostate Massage is not recommended for Acute Prostatitis, more specifically vigorous Prostate Massage. It may be dangerous in some cases causing blood-poisoning, spreading of infection to uninfected areas of the body and may also cause a hemorrhoidal condition in some males. It is extremely important to understand Prostate Massage before having the procedure carried out. It has specific purposes and shouldnt be used for medical reasons without a doctors recommendation.

Prostate Massage is meant to be a gentle massage of the male prostate gland to help rid the inflamed prostate gland or seminal vesicles of painfully sequestered secretions. A gentle Prostate Massage may also benefit the muscles around the prostate gland.

As with all treatments and procedures, some patients benefit while others dont. With Prostate Massage the same applies. If the procedure is carried out properly and performed on a patient who is a candidate for it, Prostate Massage can be very beneficial. However there are patients who are not candidates for Prostate Massage and if carried out could be very harmful and cause serious damage. Any prostate that is weak or experiencing sickness may be injured during a vigorous Prostate Massage. The prostate gland is very sensitive and consists of soft tissue and nerves. Too much force would not be good in a case such as this. Prostate Massage must be understood before undergoing the procedure. The patient needs to understand the risks before having a Prostate Massage. On the other hand, there are benefits of Prostate Massage for those patients who are candidates and if the procedure is carried out correctly. How to give your partner a Prostate Massage?

Prostate massage, when performed on a regular basis, can be used as a preventative treatment against prostate cancer. It is good for prostate health in general, and can decrease the risk of prostate enlargement--that is, benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH). Prostate massage is also a form of sexual play. Whatever your reason may be, let’s say you would like to do prostate massage on your husband or partner. Here is how to go about doing it.

First of all, make sure he is okay with having a prostate massage. Let him know the procedure so that he understands what will happen. If he seems comfortable with it, then you can go ahead with it.

Keep your fingernails neat and trim. File off any jagged edges.

Ask your partner to urinate or do a bowel movement before having a massage. It is important that he should be as relaxed as possible. You may want to try a relaxation technique as well.

Clean your hands, use a sterile latex glove, and dab a bit of water-based lubricant on the glove’s fingertips. Then gently insert your fingers into his anus. Carefully push them inwards and upwards, against the rectal lining towards his front side. Move your fingers roughly the direction of his navel.

You do not have to push in too far, just a little more than an inch--about 3 cm. Then you will touch the prostate gland, a small round bulb of tissue about the size of a large walnut. Give it a gentle massage by rubbing it lightly along its sides. Do not press hard on the gland’s central portion, as that is where some sensitive nerves are located. Do not touch the prostate gland with your fingernails.

At some point, your partner may feel like he wants to urinate, even though he does not have to. That may feel somewhat confusing, but try to reassure him and, if he is okay with it, you can continue.

Your partner will become stimulated and may even ejaculate--but it is all right if ejaculation does not occur, as it doesn’t always happen.

And that is how you give your partner a prostate massage.
